I’ve recently acquired a DVD camcorder (Canon DC100). When I try to transfer the information from the DVD-RW disc, my computer can’t read it. When I send it through the RCA cable system provided with the camera, the video, when captured, becomes slightly distorted (pixelation, especially when the subject being recorded moves.) I’m wondering whether it’s the software (roxio my dvd) and the pixelation will resolve when I upgrade software, or whether it’s the video capture hardware on my Media Center computer and if I need to upgrade my video capture card.

I’ve got several months of frustration pent up trying to figure this out on my own, so any information would be appreciated.

Thanks for the information. I found one of the posts that you referred to explaining the flaws of DVD camcorders earlier today. It explained the imperfections that occurs when trying to edit mpeg2 formatted video. And it turns out that my camcorder model compresses to mpeg2 format.

The forum was Editing and the post is listed as "sony dvd camcorder" posted sept. 05, 2006.

Thanks for your help. This forum has provided some excellent assistance.
