Canon’s Digital Photo Professional RAW app now available on iOS

Canon’s ported its Digital Photo Professional (DFF) RAW processing software features to iOS mobile devices and released a DPP Express app for the iPad.

The app features a ton of processing functions for Canon .CR3 RAW files and JPEG images. Additionally, the files can be viewed, adjusted and saved to the cloud, a computer or your camera wirelessly. The app also works with Canon’s Camera Connect app as well.

The Camera Connect app allows you to control the camera remotely and edit pictures

That’s right. The Camera Connect app can control your camera remotely. But it can also be used to wirelessly download images from your Canon camera to the iPad. After the images are downloaded onto the tablet, you can process and edit the images in DPP Express.

Reportedly, the user interface has been designed with simplicity as a key element. DPP Express’ adjustment options also include tone curves, picture settings, gamma levels and lens correction. Additionally, all of these adjustments are applied in real time.

Multiple Editing Histories

If you’re undecided on a few versions of your image, DPP Express offers Multiple Editing Histories. This feature allows for several edited version of the same image. So you can compare effects and editing options on the same image. However, it maxes out at four editing histories. Nevertheless, the effects and editing settings can also be copied and pasted between files to apply the same look to different images.

Availability

The app is compatible with newer iPads and IPad Pros running iOS 11. You can learn more about the apps compatibility and features on Canon’s website. To download DPP Express, go to the iOS App Store.
