8th Annual Streamy Awards to honor diverse pool of online creators

October 22nd marks the 8th year of the Streamy Awards, and it looks like this year will be the best yet.

The Streamy Awards is an award ceremony that celebrates everything involving online video and content creators. The ceremony honors well-known creators like Shane Dawson — nominated for four awards for his documentary about this year’s disastrous TanaCon. Dawson is nominated for categories like Creator of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Documentary, and Best Editing (it’s been already revealed he won this category).

The event will be hosted by the very popular comedy team Try Guys. They’ll be supported by a number of big presenters, including Drag Race veterans Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova, and ‘Blackish’ star Miles Brown.

The nominees are diverse

The awards celebrate a diverse pool of online creators, honoring everyone from athletes to celebrities to gamers. This includes Ninja, Kevin Durant, Kevin Hart, Marshmello, Shay Mitchell, Lilly Singh and Jaden Smith. Other nominees include Andrei Terbea, Casey Neistat, David Dobrik, Dolan Twins, Emma Chamberlain, Gabbie Hanna, Liza Koshy and Safiya Nygaard.

“We founded the Streamys to recognize all voices, and this year we are proud to honor the most diverse and engaging group of creatives in Streamys’ history,” said Streamy Awards Founder Drew Baldwin. “Our partnership with YouTube not only allows us to recognize the nominees where so many of them began their careers and continue to flourish, but as the world’s largest video sharing platform, YouTube enables us to celebrate the achievements of the creator community on a truly global scale.”
