IBC 2014: SanDisk Rolls Out High Speed High Capacity Cards

Sandisk today announced two high performance, large capacity cards, 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card, and the SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 memory card.

First, the 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card holds the record for being the world’s highest capacity SD UHS-I memory card, while maintaining serious performance for the DSLR or other SDXC video camera. Write speeds up to 90 MB/s and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) recording speed will ensure stutter-free high res recording at 4K UHD (3840x2160p). For offloading data, the 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card is capable of speeds up to 95 MB/s, ensuring efficient post-production workflows. Nothing stinks like finishing a shoot and waiting two hours for footage to transfer.

If speed is the name of the game, the SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 memory card is ready to get to work with capacities up to 128 GB. High end endorsers of the CFast 2.0 standard, such as ARRI, Canon, Hasselblad, PhaseOne, Leica, Atomos and Blackmagic Design, will enjoy the benefits of 440 MB/s write speeds and data transfer up to 515 MB/s. Designed in collaboration with leading edge camera manufacturers, the SanDisk Extreme Pro CFast 2.0 is capable of easily recording cinema 4K video (4096x2160p).

The SanDisk Extreme PRO UHS-I SDHC/SDXC memory cards are available worldwide in capacities of 512GB, 256GB and 128GB. The 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card will be available for $799.99 (MSRP). The SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 will be available through select retail outlets in October. There is no final word yet on pricing, but count on it coming in north of a grand.
