I will be the first to admit my displeasure with 3D. In fact, I was looking forward to the day when we could put this 3D nonsense behind us. In my opinion, the 3D movies hitting the theaters were subpar, and the push to get 3D into our living rooms seemed premature. However, once the power of 3D moviemaking was put into my hands, I quickly began singing another tune.
The Sony TD10. What can I say? It rocks my socks. The 3D camcorder sports dual lenses and can capture Double Full HD two CMOS sensors, providing full 1920x1080 resolution for each channel. It contains 64GB of internal memory with the option to record to an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card, allows for auto and manual control of convergence, exposure, shutter, iris and white balance, along with a list of many other features.
As nice as it is to see Double Full HD technology in a 3D camcorder, what really got my attention was the 3.5 parallax barrier LCD display, which allows live 3D viewing of your video without the need for glasses. As skeptical as I had been, and as silly as it may sound, I really couldnt help but say, wow! once I actually saw the LCD display in action.
Overall, the TD10 made shooting in 3D fun. In auto mode, its as easy as pointing the camera and recording. In manual mode, you can adjust the convergence in order to add another layer to your storytelling. And when you get home and realize that youre just shy a couple of pennies for the 3D TV that's needed to watch your 3D videos, you can always playback in 2D in the meantime, thanks to the dual image sensors.
MSRP: $1500
