Track Yourself with Satarii Star and a Mobile Camera
Satarii is not the name of a breakthrough video game console - it is an innovative company looking for financial support to make a device that holds your camera and tracks a subjects movements. Much like wireless mics, the prototype uses a receiver that communicates with the base that holds the camera. The motion in the example was limited to panning, but did look very smooth and already shows promise to be an incredible tool for personal videos. Operating noise from the motorized base is still in question, but as for stability, it will likely need help as it is pocket sized and won't extend to head height on its own. Though many drawbacks become apparent on second glance, the concept is easy to grasp, and has time to improve. The manufacturers are accepting contributions until Feb. 20 and will be sending prototypes to contributors a few months before the project is complete.
