Barbie Video Girl - Making Video in Style
Though the Barbie Video Girl is not, by any means, something that I have on my holiday wish list this year, I am a bit envious of kids these days; their toys are so cool. Barbie Video Girl is a fully functioning Barbie Doll with the added bonus of a built-in digital video camera. The lens is (not very) discreetly hidden as a gem on Barbie's necklace while controls and an LCD screen are located on her back. The controls consist of only three buttons Delete, Power/Record, and Play making it simple for the kiddos to use and operate. Taking up most of the real estate on Barbie's back is the LCD screen, which measures at a "whopping" 0.95 inches. It appears to be pretty small, but seems sufficient for any recording or playback done on the playground. Barbie Video Girl also gives the option to upload video clips to a computer for viewing or editing. The downloadable editing software allows kids to edit, add music, sound effects, graphics and transitions to their videos. Despite the fact that it's a Barbie Doll, and it doesn't capture the best footage, there is a chance that it will be enough to nurture the young, aspiring movie maker in your life; perhaps it will spark an enthusiasm for video that will be life long. Or, maybe it will be rendered useless after a single ill-fated trip to Barbie's "Pool Party". I suppose, only time will tell.
