CES is Coming!

Yep, it’s that time of year again, that time when we hang a brand new calendar, unmarked and ready to jot new adventures, time to make resolutions, promises and self-improvementgoals and that time for the opening of CES – The ConsumerElectronicsShow, in wild Las Vegas. CES always lands on the first week of the new year, and electronicmanufacturers, productrepresentativesand press from all over the world converge in this one HUGE convention to check out and show off the latest greatest consumer products coming out each year.

The event draws everything form suped-up car audio systems to dancing robots, but we at Videomaker try to put the blinders on and narrow our focus on just the gear that suits our audience: videoproduction. And boy oh boy, there’s a lot of it! Camcorders, mics, tripods, computers, hard drives, software, lights… there’s so much to do, so much to see, so many people to meet and so little time to do it all in.

Something we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot this year is the latest in 3D imaging for the consumer to prosumer level. “Avatar” , grossing more than a billion dollars already, raised the bar in 3D animation, and many movies coming out are targeting 3D. But 3D isn’t for just the box office biggies anymore, and from the cameras to the software, you’ll be reading about how you, too, can make 3D movies this year in Videomaker.

We’re going to talk with many product reps from Canon, Panasonic, Samsung, JVC and Sony, to get the inside scoop on the newest camcorders they’re releasing this year. They’ve been mum on what we’ll see, so watch for some interesting innovations to be announced in just a few days.

Storage isalsosomething we’re going to be taking a look at. All these newer cameras that shoot directly to hard drive or cards don’t give you much choice if youwantto store your video. Look for some new news on long-term solutions.

Of course, mobile is one of the big buzz words, too, and companies that offer ways to get video shot and uploaded fast is going to be hot.

Other companies we might be talking to: Nvidia, Buffalo, Case Logic, Audio-Technica, Motion DSP… and more more more!

We’ll be sending reportsthroughoutthe day throughout the week… so set your favorites to Videomaker‘s blog and stay tuned!
