The arrival of the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K Digital Cinema Camera signals changes that reflect well for live production and studio use. Announced at NAB 2015, the camera is now in production and scheduled to start shipping this month. The URSA Mini comes in an ergonomic shape whose aluminum body weighs in at only 5 lbs. and includes a side handle for hand-held work. There is also an optional shoulder mount with a quick release plate for taking the camera from handheld to shoulder to tripod.
In a win-win situation, the iHistory video contest brings teens and World War II vets together as the vets tell their stories, the kids learn history right from the source, the videos live forever in the Library of Congress, and prizes include Blackmagic cinema cameras as well as light kits, mics and tripods.
Blackmagic beta tester, John Brawley, is back with more footage from the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. This time, John took the Blackmagic out on a rainy night in Sydney, Australia. The footage was shot at 800 and 1600 ISO with a variety of lenses. The results are stunning.
