Avid released a new version of it's flagship software, Media Composer 3.0, as well as most of it's editing line up. Of note, the new price of Media Composer 3.0 software of $2,495 is half the cost of the previous version, making high end Avid editing a bit more accessible to independent videographers.

Adobe has released a sneak peak at their upcoming version of Soundbooth. The speech recognition software looks to be especially useful. If you currently own CS3 you can unlock the public beta until CS4 comes out, all others can try it for 48 hours, so check it out!

G-Technologies was busy this NAB introducing a new drive and updating a few others. The new G-RAID Pro drive is a triple interface (FW 800, FW 400, USB 2.0), RAID 0/5, 4-slot hot-swappable hard drive with up to 4TB of capacity. The G-RAID Pro will be available in June for $999 (MSRP).
