The True List

by Tom Skowronski | July 28th, 2009

blogpic31That’s right! Everybody else has done one, why not me!? Unlike all the other blogs you go to, this blogger is by far the best looking, smartest and healthiest around. I even smell good, (ever since I started showering once a day). So listen up, here is MY listing of the top 5 movies ever made. Sure you’ve seen everyone’s top 10, top 5, etc. This is the era of myspacers and twitter, which keep people interconnected through minute to minute updates, not actual one on one human interaction… but it’s time to get to the list, the greatest of which has ever been assembled! And remember, this is one of the most important things that you are going to hear all day-So Focus!

5.) Citizen Kane

4.) The Shawshank Redemption

3.) The Wizard of Oz

2.) City of the Lost Children

1.) Memories of Murder

There is a reason that you haven’t heard of the top 2… you aren’t cool enough

What is “Guerrilla Filmmaking?”

by Tom Skowronski | July 13th, 2009

use-meOver the years, I have specialized in the low budget warfare, commonly known as “guerrilla filmmaking.” It has left me with many camcorders that I have single handedly had to witness lose their life. Their final breaths, in my arms…

“Guerrilla filmmaking refers to a form of independent filmmaking characterized by low budgets, skeleton crews, and simple props using whatever is available. Often scenes are shot quickly in real locations without any warning, and without obtaining permission from the owners of the locations.”

Or at least that what it says on Wikipedia. To me, it’s being artistic without limitations. All of us are limited in one way or another. But it doesn’t mean that we have to focus on that and let it hold us from expressing our creativity. Sure I may only have a limited budget, no release forms and coffee breath but the point is I will NOT stop until I know that I have tried any means necessary to create. Create my ideas, my passion and my projects. Why don’t more indie directors have this mindset?

Motiongrapher

by Tom Skowronski | January 12th, 2009

motionographer_logo.gifI’d like to introduce everyone to one of my personally favorite sites, Motiongrapher. I find it to be a very informative site for all of us video enthusiasts looking to get into motion graphics and animation. You can also share your work with others, as well as research certain design aspects. There is also a “Cream of the Crop” section for highly recommended links that each and everyone of you should take a look at, just to gain more knowledge about the industry.

If you ever wanted or needed any influence to sway a decision to use certain technologies of just need the random inspiration I highly recommend this site.
Be sure to check it out for yourselves.
