Painting Light with an iPad

by Derek Sine | October 7th, 2010

BERG and Dentsu London have been exploring and perfecting the ability to use an iPad to create 3D stop animation using a complex light painting technique. By developing 3D models they are able to perform a virtual CAT Scan that generates an outline of the animations, this paired with a strategic series of complex long exposures of 3-6 seconds while moving the iPad through space, they’ve come up with some stellar floating 3D light forms. The Crew shot over 5,500 photographs, only half of those were actually used in the final edit!

Motiongrapher

by Tom Skowronski | January 12th, 2009

motionographer_logo.gifI’d like to introduce everyone to one of my personally favorite sites, Motiongrapher. I find it to be a very informative site for all of us video enthusiasts looking to get into motion graphics and animation. You can also share your work with others, as well as research certain design aspects. There is also a “Cream of the Crop” section for highly recommended links that each and everyone of you should take a look at, just to gain more knowledge about the industry.

If you ever wanted or needed any influence to sway a decision to use certain technologies of just need the random inspiration I highly recommend this site.
Be sure to check it out for yourselves.
