Apple’s strategy isn’t video so much as books, but they’ll find textbook and other publishers are going to want to incorporate video into their content. In many cases, a LOT of video.

Apple will also find its customers really want a machine that lets them consume content, period, be it audio, video, or text.

In the short term, there are plug-ins for Quicktime to play flv; perhaps this is a solution for the iPad?

I’m not so sure the iPad needs an HDMI port. Wireless is the better way to go, and Apple’s got that covered. Also, the first gen iPad doesn’t truly support HD, as the screen is 1024×768.

In the longer term, Woz is thinking in the right direction, and Apple will follow. If Apple’s smart – and that’s a given – future iPads will have webcams, higher resolution, and incorporate other enhancements to improve video consumption.

That is absolutely true, but with apps you will be able to view online video content.

But the iPad doesn’t support Adobe Flash so it won’t be able to play flv videos (reportedly 75% of video content on the web).
