JVC’s Professional division has unveiled its new GY-DV5000U at a major trade show. It can record on both full-size and Mini DV cassettes, and can also play back DVCAM-format cassettes.

Major features include 0.4 lux minimum illumination, camera resolution of 800 lines, a 2.5” LCD monitor that can also display data, 2 XLR microphone inputs that provide phantom power, and locked audio. It utilizes a standard FireWire connection for digital video input and output.

The GY-DV5000U will also support JVC’s Network Pack, which streams MPEG-4 video directly from the camera onto the Internet.

The unit will be available in November, and is expected to carry a list price of $4,995 (without the lens).
