Sony Introduces Compact DCR-PC100 Mini DV Handycam

Sony Electronics announced a new compact Mini DV Handycam camcorder, the DCR-PC100, which the company claims is the first camcorder with a megapixel (1 million pixel) CCD for both digital still and video imaging. Boasting 520 lines of video resolution and the ability to capture 1152×864-pixel still images and store them on Sony’s proprietary Memory Stick removable storage, the DCR-PC100 will be available in October for $2199.

Other features of the DCR-PC100 include an InfoLithium battery, NightShot infrared recording, LaserLink wireless transmission, electronic image stabilization, 120:1 digital zoom and a 10:1 optical zoom through a Carl Zeiss lens.
