Summary and Other Format-related Freeware

In summary,

Audio: BonkEnc will be just fine unless you use Sony ACID Xpress or work with WMA or RM files regularly. Then use Switch.

Video: Any Video Converter is the BEST! MediaCoder is so advanced that it’s best to leave it as a last resort. ASFTools and Riva FLV Encoder are useful only in certain situations.

Conveditors: Use MPEG Streamclip whenever possible and Avidemux the rest of the time (last resort is MediaCoder, see above). I think VirtualDub works best for converting JPEG sequences to video files. I’m going to use Any Video Converter from now on though.

CodecInstaller – If you’re missing a codec, this program will figure out which one you need and tell you to download it.
