Links – Find Freeware on your own!
How do you go about finding freeware anyway?
1. Google “free video editing software” or whatever. (Works with Yahoo too.) This is how I found a bunch of freeware.
2. Tell people that you’re into it and some will suggest programs they like. This is how I found Celtx, Blender, Wings 3D and Maya PLE. Google the name of the freeware to find the website.
3. When you find a good program, look around the website for a Links page and there’s usually some programs of the same type or that will work well the program you found already. I found Inkscape and Scribus on the GIMP website, and Art of Illusion on the Wings 3D site. For example, here’s the Links page on the CineGobs Keyer website: http://www.cinegobs.com/index.php?page=Links
4. Kim Komando has a links/download page on her website. She reviews/recommends most of the freeware I’ve reviewed. I found MediaCoder, WavePad, Kristal, Avidemux, BonkEnc, Poster Forge and more on her site. http://www.komando.com/downloads/
5. PC World Magazine has some downloads too. Most of these are encoders/converters and alternatives to major media players, such as Quicktime. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/downloads.html
Good luck on your quest! May you find programs to solve your daily problems efficiently.
