Google Documents (and Gmail)

Quick and Fast: Google Docs is another free option to Microsoft Office, while Gmail is simply the best email service on the planet (I’m totally biased).

Where to get it: Google Docs: https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=writely&passive=true&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2F&ltmpl=WR_tmp_2_lfty&nui=1&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-bk&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=google%20docs You must have a Google account. The way I went is to sign up for Gmail, Google’s email service at www.gmail.com.

These are the 2nd and 3rd Google products I’ve reviewed. Google is just the best! I can prove it too you – the “good guys” in National Treasure (my favorite movie) use Google.

Google Documents (Google Docs) can make Documents(like MS Word), Presentations(PowerPoint), Spreadsheets(Excel) and Forms(there’s probably a MS Office program…). You can also pick who can view your documents. And, all this is online, not software, so you don’t need multiple copies of the same documents to send to people or receive more copies as they are updated and returned to you.

Gmail has among other things, Gmail Chat, which is a great way to Instant Message someone and I had a job once where we used Gmail for everything! Many people love it.

You can also use Google Docs and Gmail together to send photos right in your email, not just as attachments. (See the Help)

Tutorials: You probably won’t need any, but there is a great help system in the top right corner of the screen.
