    i have a panasonic dvc 200 how do i use the zebra pattern thanks guys andy

    Zebra is not a "warning" of "overexposed" areas, but rather a guide to show you parts of your frame that will be pure white or close to it. Pure white means there is no detail in that area and you will never be able to get it back in post.

    With the limited latitude of video, you want vertain areas to be zebra'ed- lights, areas of a white shirt, shiny objects, a white wall etc.

    Always expose for your subject, regardless of the background (or foreground).

    Zebras allow you to see areas of exposure in a camera that you want to flag. Zebras are usually settable from 70 units to 100 units. In other words set your zebras to 80 units and anything that is at or above 80 units of video will show zebras. I use zebras set here because 80 is the limit of where you want faces to be exposed in any scene. I just wrote an article on it in my last months production technique newsletter.
