This is a forum to give suggestions about features and content you'd like to see in our Videomaker Community site. We're in the process of revamping the forums and the whole community "tab" of the website, and we'd love to know what you'd like to see included.

    Web 2.0 features?
    Video Sharing?
    Blogs?
    Personal Homepages?
Critiquing of you videos from the community and the editors?
    Video contests?
Forum updates (too many forums? Not enough?)

It's all on the table, let us know what you think, and help us design the new site into something truly useful and fun for our readers.

    Thanks,

    JB

I like the new 2.0 forum.
    Can we get spell check?

    How about some How To's?
It seems to me that many people come here to the Forum with "how do I do this and that..." questions and I think some Flash based or video type How To's would be the best thing to add.
Some plain on How To's with still images would be cool too.
All right here in the Forum in a How To section broken down by Shooting, Lighting, Editing, Effects etc.

    Good new look overall.

I like the new look. It's clean and modern.

As for the forums, they seem fine, but it would be nice if they were organized more. For example, there would be a list of forums under "production" "post-production" or something of that sort.

I like whats going on here, and that the community is alive, and I hope for the best. Thanks.

A bit speedier forum would be nice.  I posted a topic in this forum and can't see it yet.  But if I go to my profile and look at threads I've started, it's there and I can go into it. I hope it is properly posted...

Here is the url of it so others can read it if it's not showing up for others as well: http://videomaker.com/community/forums/topic/my-suggestions?replies=1

Speaking of which, I had to copy that out of my web browser's address bar.  I hope that is a valid linking address and doesn't just send people back to the forums main screen.  Either I'm not seeing it (I'm having a bad time with this UI), or there is no 'permalink' or 'link this post' kind of button that gives you a link you know will go directly to that thread or post.  That would be a great feature to add if it's not already.

Topics and posts are available immediately.

By default, Opera caches the page for 5 minutes. This is one of the reason's that Opera is such much faster than Firefox and IE. Opera's cache of your profile must have already expired, so it grabbed the updated profile page from the server.

There are a couple of quick ways around this.

    1. Alt-P -> Advanced -> History -> Change "Check Documents" to "Always". However this will bring you back to Firefox's page viewing speed.
    2. Reload the page that should have been updated.

Actually, I reloaded the page, and I have Opera set up to never reload from cache.  So I think it still might be a bug in the forum.

I haven't been able to recreate this problem in Opera. I'll download the MS Windows version of Opera and let you know if I can find a fix.

Another feature that would be nice is a link to jump to new posts (since your last login) in a thread.  That way if it's a really long thread, you don't have to scroll through it.
