I'm looking for a good editing program that is not too expensive, easy to learn, and can do the job. I've seen some software in upwards of $1000, I don't think I can afford that right now. I'm willing to spend around $500 or more. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you checked out Studio 8 from Pinnacle Systems? It's fairly inexpensive (you should be able to buy it for less than $100)and it's pretty feature rich. You can download a working demo from their website http://www.pinnaclesys.com

I agree w/ Rick, Studio 8 is great but I've heard of compatibility problems. You might want to check out Ulead VideoStudio 7 as well--also a free demo download. No compatibility issues at all. In fact, PC World praises its compatibility w/ capture cards of Studio 8.
