A friend is getting married on the 8th of October in Michigan and his fiancee is from the Phillippines.  Most of her relatives will not be able to make it to the US for the ceremony.  We would like to provide a live feed of the wedding to those relatives overseas.  What options do we have?

  3. Hi, David... look into Telestream's Wirecast. We reviewed it recently, it might be something that works for you. link:  http://www.videomaker.com/article/15189/

I don't know what's required on the receiver's end [in the Philippines] but this might get you started on some research.

    Hi David,

If you use the software Jennifer has suggested and pair it up with Ustream as the streaming provider, you should be able to pull this off! Just keep in mind that you'll need a camcorder that has a FireWire output along with a laptop or computer that has a FireWire input. Other than some software supporting HDMI, this is the only kind of transmission that will work right now. Hope that helps!

Since you have less than a week until October 8th, it's probably too late for the Firewire solution if you don't already have a Firewire-capable camera.  It's probably also too late to buy a Teradek Cube HDMI to Ethernet encoder -- or a 1080p camcorder with webcam capability like the discontinued Sanyo HD1010.

You'll probably have to settle for an existing webcam with Skype or Google Video Chat.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Check out this previous post "Streaming a wedding as additional service". I talk about how to transmit live step by step.

The meaning of a movie are the characters, the life of the movie is the music, but the magic is in the editing.
