Hey guys need your 2cents on this!!! Which cam should I get the TRV 950 or the DV953. I know the TRV 950 has better low light capabilities but I want be shooting in the dark. Also I've read that the 950 is not better than what it replaced the 900 but it is still pretty good! I guess it depends on what you will be shooting. I will mainly be doing weddings and slideshows!!!! Please give me your 2cents thanks :)

Okee dokee, the 950 is a great little cam, but depending on where you buy it, you'd be better offf getting the DCR-PDX10. More features, DVCAM capability, and the most bang for the buck when you add the Precision 16:9 feature. The 953 is a great cam as well, and typically much less expensive than either the 950 or PDX10. Shop around the mail order places.

    P.S. The PDX10 has a phenominal picture

the trv950 has true 16:9 mode (same as the pdx10). all you get with the pdx10 is an overly priced mixer and mic. get a trv950, a mini-XLR adapter and a good shotgun mic and then pocket the $200 you save. Acually just get the GL2. :)

I've had a TRV-950 for a little under a year now, and overall its a great little camcorder, with decent light you get amazing results. However the low light capabilities are a little less than what I'd hoped for. I shoot a lot indoors and at night, and even with the exposure dial all the way up, its sometimes too dark. I'm thinking about upgrading to either a GL2 or the new VX2100 (best low light shooting from what I've heard) for the price.
