Dominic Boudreault's timelapse video, The City Limits, has
received almost 1 million views since it was posted on Vimeo last week.
Rightfully so; the footage is amazing. The 3.5 minute video explores a
handful of North American cities including Montreal, Toronto, Quebec
City, Manhattan and Chicago, capturing in great clarity the buzzing
speed of traffic and the peaceful drifting of starry night skies.
According to his Vimeo page, the goal of this timelapse is "to show the
    duality between city and nature."

"I am constantly in search of a perspective that will transmit both
the beauty and the speed of the world in which we live in," says Boudreault. When watching his video, Boudreault suggests, "crank the volume way up before watching" and "turn HD on!"

I suggest doing the same. Enjoy!

And be sure to go full screen with it. You'll see so much more detail!

I could stare at so many of those shots forever. Thank you for sharing it.

that was incredible.  are the stars at the end real?  anyone care to share how you get the camera to pick all that up?  amazing.

For the star shots, he just recorded a static object against the open sky for a REALLY long time. Possibly several hours. The movement of the stars is due to the planet's spin.

Also, longer exposure times (slower shutter speeds) would allow more light into the camera, helping illuminate an otherwise dark scene and making those stars twinkle just a little brighter.

    Pseudo,

Here's a thread I started a while back on doing Time Lapse video with a DSLR camera. There are vids on how to, plus tips I gave as well. There are also examples of mine and others TLVs.
