Teaching people how to edit video
or as I like to call it, "Beating yourself in the face with a iron skillet while walking barefoot over sharp glass" }:-@
I bought my family as a whole a camera and editing software for my father, as the entire family is going to Greece and Egypt this spring. I figured it would be a fitting gift to capture the moments and also it being personal as to my hobbies and skills. What I didn;t think about however was the plethura of editing knowledge that I would have to pour out to my family so they would know what they were doing.
My dad is easy enough, he learns quickly and everything, but half the time I want to just push the him aside and say "Just let me do it!" The realization I have come to is that you should never buy gifts that reflect any of your personal skill or talents, because it will drive you up the wall!
Anyway I work in the computer industry and the are many water cooler moments where people say something like "yeah I got an IT call once, someone had stuffed a saltine cracker into the disk drive" X-D
I think that many people in the video industry (or hobby) have had like experiences, anyone wish to share any?
I'll start: the camera I bought my family is a Canon ZR600, I was going for the simplest camera I could find. Do you know what my mother said when she looked at it?
"Wow there are so many buttons..."
RIGHT!!! ALL THREE OF THEM!!! *sigh*
I'm sure other people have more entertaining things than this, so please share... I need a good laugh.
