Tape caught

    Hi,

    I own a Canonvision 8 (Canon VM-E1) camcorder using 8mm cassettes.

It hasn't been used for quite a while, and possibly because of this any tapes that are inserted are immediately caught up inside.

I can insert a cassette, and then even before use, eject it to find that the tape has pulled and occasionally tricky to remove.

It doesn't leave any apparent marks or damage, but any attempt to play/record a cassette, the unit will stop as if it would if it had reached the end of the tape - and once again, on ejection the tape will be pulled, though not necessarily tangled or caught.

    Thanks for your help.

Sounds to me like your camcorder needs a service/new set of belts. It is not lacing up on loading the tape. This is not a do it yourself job. Get it done by a professional.
    Hope this helps.
