I am sure I am not alone in wanting to use copyrighted music in some videos. After consulting with an intellectual attorney I found out that this requires sychronization rights. I also found out that agencies like ASCAP are not authorized to sell licenses for sychronization. You must go directly to the publisher. I doubt if publishers have any interest in selling these right for low budget videos that are produced in small quantities.

What we neet is a Napster for videomakers where we can go to purchase the rights we need. I am thinking of the new fee-charging Napster not the old Napster. Can anyone think of a company what might be interested in providing this service and make it a profit center? Perhaps Videomaker would be interested. Any thoughts?
