Subclip Blues

   I am new to FCP and when I capture video from tape, even though it is one long continuous take, it breaks it into parts, subclips I think it calls them. I want a contiguous clip, how do I turn off this feature? One more question, when I press log and capture, it starts immediately and I don't get the little dialogue box with the settings and options, what am I doing wrong? I'm capturing HD 1080i with ProRes 422. Gerry in Calgary
