    Hi,
What is the best wide-angle lens and microphone for a Sony TRV950? Should I stick with Sony products? Should the mic be intelligent-shoe or XLR? Is there a noticable difference?
    Thanks

I realize this reply is late, but maybe I can help. I'd stick to using Sony accessories if possible. I bought a telephoto lens & shoe microphone for my Hi8 TRV65. You can add an XLR mic, but it will have to be with an add-on box attaching to the camcorder for the mic input (you DON'T want to add some kind of adapter plug). Fortunately, Sony carries a wide range of accessories, and they're interchangeable between analog & digital cameras. If you can't find what you need, then I suppose you could check out the Sima line of products--they're no Sony, but I think the quality would be respectable.

Centurey optics makes fantastic lenses... I'm sure they have one for your camcorder. As for microphones, go with xlr.
