Sony PD170 Prices

   I was looking online for a pd170 and the prices vary from $999 to $3000. at expresscameras.com why is it so cheap. I have heard that they make a plastic version of the camera with no accessories and thats why the price is cheap? Any suggestions would be great.

   -The best place to start is with Sony--find out if the place where you want to buy is an authorized reseller.
   -Another place that a number of fellow forum participants frequently recommend is http://www.resellerratings.com .
   
   I am highly dubious of the claim that there is another version of that camcorder for the USA market. And some places will also falsely claim that the scope of "accessories" includes the battery, the warranty card, the eye cup, the strap, the cables, the remote control... so, needless to say, caveat emptor.
