What you're seeing is called vignetting, seeing the lens barrel in the shot. Your lens is not fully zoom-through, meaning you can't go to maximum wide without seeing this. It's a nuisance at least and not there with better lenses. I use the Canon WA-58 on my VX2000 and it doesn't vignette at full wide. The little w/a I bought for my Sony D8 does.

While this is more common with 2X convertors, a decent wide angle convertor shouldn't do this. $89.95 is cheap, but sometimes you get what you pay for. David's recommendation Canon WD-58H 0.7x WIDE-CONVERTER, is the best choice for VX2000/VX2100 camcorders. It comes with an excellent hood and costs about $180. Twice the price, but still very affordable - and the ideal choice.

I also bought the canon wide angle for my 2100. I actually bought the sony ($299) and the canon ($199)..compared them side by side and the canon won. fully zoomed in the sony was much softer than the canon so the sony went back...Ken
