I have a Sony HVR A1U video camera. It is about 4-5 years old. Last week I powered it on and put in a tape. Everything was working fine and I flipped over to the "view video" mode and it turned off. Now no lights turn on and the tape will not eject. The only activity is an occasional white flash on the LCD. I have tried this sing battery and ac power. Does anyone know what might be causing this? And if so, suggestions on fixing it?

When working with malfunctioning electronics, your best bet is to take it to a professional who is familiar with the technology and can take a look at it/repair it without doing further damage. Additionally, manufacturers will often void any warranties that may exist if you try to open it up and "fix" the device yourself.

The Sony A1 does have a reset button for consumer use it may be worth a try.
