Anyone have an idea on how to light the following....
XL1S shooting at night across a rippling pond. I am trying to catch a
sihouette of a duck swimming across the moons reflection. We shot toward the camera with a spot light (to simulate the reflection of the moon) and couldnt keep from creating reflections in the lens.
Where would you angle the lights?
    What lights would you recommend?

Well, it depends on the duck.

Seriously, since no one else has responded I'll offer my whacko idea..

Have you heard of "day for night"? Pick an overcast day, get a halogen light set with stand ($29 at Lowes), then use some light stands to position a good-sized piece of cardboard to act as a barn door to keep the light out of the lens. Angle the light slightly away from the camera to avoid the flare. Shut down exposure to simulate night and use a blue filter to increase the effect.

I'm assuming this is going to be fairly unsaturated so that mixing a little halogen with daylight isn't going to matter.

Is that a union or non-union duck?
