Nice article that Mike Stoll wrote on helmet cams. The new technologies allowing the camera head to also output the video signal was the breakthrough for serious video production in sports. A few years back, I transitioned from the micro-cams with CCU's(camera control units) to the helmets cams. This was tuely a great leap in capabilities for my productions. Weight of the old system was 13 pounds-mostly the 2 batteries required for the 12V CCU and a 6V for the recorder. Now the weight is 2 pounds, which allows much easier installation in the aerobatic aircraft. When it comes to mountain biking, motorcycles, skiing, hangliding, etc., all you need is a small "fanny pack" to protect the DV recorder. Shortly, Viosport will introduce the "POV-1" solid state recorder based on a SD card.
