I've been hearing rumors that Sony has come out with a new version of their VX2000 three chip camcorder. Has anyone heard anything about this? I bought a VX2000 just about a year ago, but if I find out that they now have a new and better version I'll scream!!
I'm very happy with my VX but as everyone knows; what's new today will be obsolete tomorrow.

I would appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this. Thanks, Tunes Man.

It's professional counterpart is the PD-170. I don't know anything about U.S. distribution.

Hey Tunes, go ahead and scream. while you're at it I'll just scream right along with you. I bought a 2000 last December but I'm really not sorry I did either. I was wanting to get another one anyway only this time it'll probably be the pd 170.

    Happy scream'n

I hope this means retailers will put their VX2000's on Closeout and Clearance pricing in time for the holidays, like some did Panasonic's PV-DV952 and AG-EZ50 when the PV-DV953 was announced. $1400 camcorders were suddenly selling for $1000. Maybe I'll evenutally find a new VX2000 at a reputable seller for under $2K, especially since Canon extended their $250 GL2 rebate.
