I work in the printing field. If any of you has ever been in a pressroom, you know how loud it is.

I'd like to be able to record the plant managers on the pressroom floor, but the ambient noise is harsh. Any ideas about mics or techniques? Thanks.

Are you talking web presses? I can't even imagine how noisy one of those would be. I think cutsheet offset presses are awfully dang loud to start with...

I don't think I've ever seen any video where an interview was successfully accomplished in a room that loud. An extremely directional mic would be preferable (perhaps a shotgun?) Either that, or get a lot of B-roll shots of your pressroom and then interview a plant manager just outside the pressroom where you can still get a good amount of the press' noise. Then over the course of the interview, throw in the B-roll shots.
