RAID question

   Hi there.
   
   I have a RAID set up in a FireMax Hard Drive.
   
   for some time, my computer would not even see the hard drive. Now for some strange reason, it see the drive but I ran Disk Utility on it and it says;
   
   Mirrored Raid - Degraded
   Slice (disk3s2) FAILED
   Slice (disk 4s2) (no report so I assume one is ok)
   
   the "Rebuild" option says it will clear the drive.
   
   does this means the whole drive or only the corrupt half? in other words, if I rebuild half, will the other half write back to it as a mirror?
