I really don't understand Public Access. Will they allow anyone to use there facilities to produce something to put on the channel for free. How do I get in touch with these people. How does the process work? I know thats a lot of questions but I really need some answers.

I have a good idea for a Public Access show.

    Thanks

    Jovan,

Approach you local cable company and request information about getting you show on the Public Access channel.

If they give you any static, go to http://www.fcc.gov and do a search for public access and/or commercial leased access for all the rules and regs on what can and cannot be done.

Also, get to know the City Council folks, because each cable company enters into an "franchise agreement" with the city it serves. The government granting the agreement can make them/ enforce the laws, as well as, the FCC.

If you have any question, contact me privately, via email.

Yes, if you live in the community you can use the access center to produce your program IF it's NOT commercial in any way. You also can't use the equipment to make money (i.e. you can't tape a wedding with it, unless you can prove you are doing a documentary on wedding traditions ;)).

i run a public access station.....public access give you the freedom of your right as an individual producer to air your production on the cable systems...
this of course is not to used as a monies gerenrating vehicle....each access community has indeed basic rules and regulations to adhere to.......there are of course some variances between different cable stations...
i suggest that you contact your local cable provider for the access station phone number........
