First, Is "Vegas" the only editor (from among Final Cut, Premiere, Avid) that would allow me to create a production on a dvd with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound? I can't imagine the others don't offer this authoring capability.

Second, which one enables you to create "the look" of the dvd menu, what chapters on the dvd to showcase, etc.?

    Hi!

Have you looked into Adobe Encore? It is just coming out and looks really good. It has support for burning the 5.1 but can't encode or something like that it I think. It looks like a great DVD program! If you haven't looked into it I definately would. You can go to http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/main.html to find out about it.

Check out the special DVDissue of videomaker. It is a great guide to all the popular DVD burning apps out there. If you get Vegas+DVD (Which is what you need to creat DD 5.1 surround files) DVD Architecht is included to make menus and chapter points.
