First post, new here. Done videos in the past, used a Video Toaster Flyer setup. Now moved on to PC. In our computer the video card is a 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO. I was wondering if there was some sort of breakout box, or cord so we could run some old SVHS tapes through that and into the editing program.

The only way we have been able to hack so far is copying from SVHS into our MiniDV camera onto a MiniDV tape, and then from there running the MiniDV tape into the computer via Firewire. If there was some sort of breakout box or cord we could elimiate the MiniDV "middleman" camera and go straight into the computer.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

You may be able to use your dv cam as a breakoutbox and omit the copy to tape part. Many dv cameras will let you do this, but it isn't always straight forward. If the manual doesn't say anything about it you might try experimenting a bit.

Pinnacle and other companies make breakout boxes with a/v analog inputs, from under $99.
