Pooling our resources?

   Greetings All,
   
   I have a friend who is into photography, big time. A forum he visits, much like this one, pooled resources to purchase larger amounts of products. Example: One person spear headed making contact with a smaller manufacturer of backdrops. There is a particular backdrop everyone really likes. They were told by the company if they got 15 orders they could get a 50% discount. Almost 70 orders were taken.
   
   The person who made contact with the manufacturer would give a number and specific name to only those who were interested.
   
   The company must be willing to ship in smaller quantities to the individuals. The company required all orders to be made by a certain date.
   
   I'm thinking bulk purchase of miniDV.
   
   Sound off everyone. What do you think of this?
