hey there. i'm really new to video editing, etc. and i've been searching for the right editing software to go with my camcorder for several months. i just got a new computer recently and have found that through USB 2.0, i get a faster transfer rate from camcorder to computer than if i were to use firewire. but i was reading that most mini DV cams use firewire for transferring and editing video. is it possible to do it through USB instead?

If there is a USB jack on your camcorder than sure! Most camcorders only have firewire. Besides, You won't see any difference when capturing.

PVDV103s cannot transfer anything but Pics over USB, and it's not USB2. It's USB (1). Firewire is the only way to get video off that cam.
