"now capable of, in-game, rendering up to 18,000 individual strands of hair at a time, completely interactive with light, wind, and, apparently, conditioning, just look at that bounce and shine!"

"Given that the average human head of hair has 100,000 strands, NVIDIA hasn't hit Caprica levels of in-game realism yet, but for today's technology, we figure we can settle for this remarkable leap forward."

    Derek,

That is just cool. When you get the chance, check out my post on the "Mercury Engine". Rendering times look like they're preparing to be a thing of the past.

Composite1, I read your post and watched the video.  I must say when he keyed the flags over the docks and ran the clips simultaneously, my jaw dropped.  I'm psyched.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, this forum is great for these new tips so I can keep abreast of what's out there and what's coming. There's just SO MUCH it'd be impossible without input from this forum.  Thanks again Derek_Sine for starting this post as you have others.

    Pseudo,

Now if we can just get the NVIDIA render engine shown above and the Mercury to play nice together, it will be something serious to work with! I was curious though. Was the NV demo on a PC or mac? The Mercury demo was on a PC which was a surprise to me since Adobe is all Mac centric. I wonder if the two render engines will be cross-platform? Though fun it would be for a while if it was PC only, it would make my collaborative efforts a lot easier.
