Well, I have a very limited budget, as do most highschool students, and I am very interested in buying a new computer for primarily dv editing. But, I have a 1000 dollar budget for that computer. If needed. I could add on another 100 dollars, maybe 2...but then I also need a camcorder, 600 dollars or less. Thankfully, vegas video was cheap, so I'm ok on software.

I know many guides have been written on what I'm asking...but so many of them are outdated, and the ones that arent are usually way outta my price range. So basically I have a 1600-1800 dollar budget, and I need a computer with dvd writing capabilities, firewire connection, and all that good stuff. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. ^_^

The best savings will be realized by purchasing the computer online. Don't ignore so-called "refurbished" units either. They can be real bargains. Check http://www.tigerdirect.com.
They have some great bargains on computers with DVD burners. Get a CRT monitor, rather that paying the extra price for a LCD. LCDs are nifty, but plain old CRT monitors are better suited to video editing.
