Need help achieving this sparkle effect in diamonds & stark white background

   Need assistance with setting up shots like this. Especially the sparkle effect and stark white background. Using either Canon HD camcorder or Canon 7d. No sure if this is a software effect or lens effect. Also, what's best video editing software for newbies, but need and want really high end look. Any assistance would really be appreciated.     My best guess is most of it is real camera work. The surface looks like glass, frosted on one side and most of the sparkle just looks like well positioned lights. There are a couple when the gem is in front that look like trapcode starglow in AE or something of the like to enhance things and make it fuller.  Half the fun of doing these things is figuring them out. Let us know how it goes.

   You might be able to acheive some of this in Sony Vegas with the built in Light Rays & Glint FX.
