I own a Sony DCR-TRV130. I bought it new in 2001, and it has seen a lot of use... perhaps too much use.
It has developed an interesting string of problems, all of which have become quite maddening. I was wondering if any of you out there may have had a similar experience, or knew how I might be able to get this fixed.
The majority of the problems seem to be stemming from the button flap on top of the camera. The vcr buttons, the zoom, the eject, and most recently the record button itself work only when they feel like it. The camera will zoom out as wide as possible even when I'm not pushing the button. Trying to get the camera to do what I want is becoming quite the aggravation, usually ending in me having to shake it until the buttons begin working again.
Seeing as shaking actually remedies the problem (at least for a while) I'm wondering if maybe there's a short inside the wiring of the flap. I've noticed Sony no longer makes cameras with the same button position, and I thought maybe someone out there would know if this is the reason or not.
Anyway... Any thoughts or suggestions you may have would be appreciated. I know after I pay for repairs, it'll probably be cheaper to get a new camera, but if I could take a wack at fixing this myself I figure the warranty is long gone, so at this point there just isn't a lot to lose.
Thanks a lot
