I am trying to get my old super 8 movie film switched to DVD. I tried playing my movie against a white wall while filming the wall with my digital video camera. The result would have been good enough except for the flicker. Does anyone have any ideas?

The best way is a an analog to digital converter. Some video cards have a video in, but I recommend Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. I allows you to connect your RCA cables (A/V from your camcorder) into itself and go Firewire out to your PC. Or it can also output RCA/Svid to a Home Theater DVD Burner.

I have a capture card but my problem is that the original vidio is a super 8 movie. I had to originally take the movie from my camera and take it to a store where they developed it and put onto a reel which I play using a movie projector. I know this is ancient technology, but how do I get from movie film to mpeg2 without the flicker? Thanks for any help you can give me.

There is a piece of equipement out there that you can use with your camcorder & pc that will take out the flicker. Go to "moviestuff.tv" .They will show you the way.

    Hi!

I know where I live Kodak will put old movies on to VHS or even DVD. Some people don't trust their irreplaceable old movies to processing plants though. It is one possibility though.

A Projector with Speed control can vary the speed up to 30 FPS through the lens. This will take all the flutter out of the picture. Also a Telecine will improve the video as opposed to shooting on a screen or sheet.Email if you need more information. We do lots of this type of work.

The problem you are having is the projector is projecting the film at 24 frames per second and the camera is 30 fps. The problem is not the camera, but the projector. A telecine projector will have a special shutter with a different number of blades that eliminates the flicker. You have two options, send it in to lab to get it transfered, or buy a new projector. Elmo made them at one time, but all I see is a 16mm unit on their website.

Do a search of film to tape transfer and see what you come up with.
