Mic Stands?

   I've been looking to purchase some external mics (PG58's) and I was wanting to get 2 mic stands to go with them. Any reccomendations, or is a stand a stand? I was looking at the ones from musician's friend. Anything i should stay away from, or any brand you would reccomend, etc.? Thanks.

   Probably for your purpose, any stand will do? Vocalists that play an instrument like stands with tripod legs and a boom arm. The cheap round bottom stands are good for most other uses. I have seen some with a slot cut in the round base to reduce floor space needed when they are in storage (allows stacking).

   There a variety of stands to choose from - depends upon your needs. One with a boom is a good place to start. I've also used el cheapo tripods and a 12 foot light stand with an adaptor. B&H is a good place to look at what's available. For some reason, mic stands seem more expensive than tripods or light stands. B&H also has used equipment available; for something like a stand you don't have to worry about it being used.
