A "good low-light" camcorder won't shoot well in dim lighting if the operator doesn't know what he/she is doing. To achieve good performance in low light, the operator either lowers the shutter speed (1/60 sec or less), opens up the iris, increases signal gain (last resort, can degrade image a bit), or some combination of these actions. A consumer camera like a VX2000/2100 might have a Low Light auto-exposure mode, which does these things for you.
Finally, you'll learn that you can't rely too much on automatic focus when shooting in low light. Get used to using your manual focus ring or dial.
