Look like Film effect on MiniDV recording

Hi, I have been reading allot of stuff about making footage shot with a TRV900 to look like film.

Do you think that I shoult try to use all the technics and light specs trying to make it look like film with I shot the video or I could just shot the film with good light and all that and apply filters later that would make my footage look like film?

I use Avid Express Pro and I also have all the pluggins (borix Red 3gl, Graffity and many more)
